Q1: Why the desert? Why put your body through this specific void?
“In the Alps, the mountains are giant, green, and comforting. The desert is flat, yellow, and hostile. It’s like a perfect storm on land. I wanted to see if my vertical legs could survive a horizontal fight against the heat.”
Q2: How do you define pain when you are out on a grueling trail?
“Pain is just a physical alarm. It’s like a warning light on an engine panel. You acknowledge it, you adjust your stride, and you keep going. If you stop every time something hurts, you never see the top of the mountain.”
Q3: What does the concept “GFY RUN” mean to you personally?
“It’s the silent agreement we made out here. When the storm hits, nobody is coming to save you. You either find your strength, or you bite the dust. Don’t cry. You chose this.”
Q4: What is your relationship with fabrics, colors, and functionality?
“I need armor, not fashion. I run in ultra-snug, raw-cut compression trail briefs and a high-impact sports bra. No loose fabric to catch on alpine brambles. The fabrics must be ripstop, abrasion-resistant, and completely seamless to prevent chafing during a 100k fight. Colors? Dark teal, slate, and olive green—shades that look better when they are caked in mud and sweat. The only functionality I care about is weight-to-strength ratio and secure pockets for my flasks.”
Q5: Monster or Angel?
“Either two are exaggerated. I must admit that I sometimes get obsessed with finishing things, so failure and quitting are not options. But when everything is over, I’m actually quite a sweet mountain-raised girl who picks alpine flowers rather than being the ultra-competitive bitch that my teammates want you to believe I am.”
